Bolivia
Our Story
NPH Bolivia is a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting, empowering, and strengthening children, adolescents, and their families. Inspired by the mission of Father William Wasson, NPH Bolivia was established in 2004 and began serving children in 2005. As the organization grew, it developed a comprehensive care campus in San Ignacio del Sara, providing a safe, loving, and supportive environment where children could thrive.
In 2021, NPH Bolivia began transforming its model to better respond to the changing needs of children and families. While originally focused on residential care, the organization expanded its work to include prevention, family support, and community-based programs. This evolution led to the opening of the Community Family Center in 2025, creating new opportunities for guidance, prevention, and family strengthening.
Our Core Areas of Focus
Family and Community Strengthening
NPH Bolivia supports children, adolescents, and families through residential care, family reintegration, and family strengthening. When children or adolescents are temporarily unable to live with their families, NPH provides a safe, stable, family-like environment in the heart of the Portachuelo and Montero communities in Santa Cruz Department. Here, they receive everyday care and guidance from dedicated educators. Whenever possible, NPH works to help children and adolescents return safely to their families, providing psychosocial support and ongoing follow-up throughout the reintegration process. At the same time, our family strengthening programs work with parents and caregivers to create safer, stronger homes, helping prevent family separation and enabling children to grow and thrive within their families and communities.
Education and Development
Education is a core component of NPH Bolivia’s work. Children and adolescents attend educational institutions in the community, supporting their integration and participation in the environments where they live. This helps them build friendships, connections, and a stronger sense of belonging within their local communities. NPH supports their educational journeys through school materials, academic support, and complementary learning opportunities. NPH Bolivia also promotes training and access to higher education for adolescents and young people, helping them develop their abilities and build their own life projects.
Health and Wellness
Access to healthcare is a fundamental part of the support provided by NPH Bolivia across its different programs. Children, adolescents, young people, and families are supported in accessing medical care, preventive checkups, and mental health services. NPH Bolivia coordinates with public health services and maintains partnerships with hospitals and private clinics in the community to help address their physical and emotional health needs.
Youth and Economic Empowerment
Through its Labor and Social Integration Service, NPH Bolivia supports adolescents and young people in their transition to adulthood, helping them recognize their abilities, make decisions, and build their own life projects. From age 15, participants can access vocational guidance, life-skills development, technical training, higher education, and opportunities for their first work experiences. The service helps young people become more independent and prepared for adult life, supporting them as they enter the workforce, build new relationships and networks, and play an active role in their communities.

The Difference You Make
Turning Opportunity Into Achievement
Marjorie is making the most of every opportunity available to her. As a student in NPH Bolivia’s family and community support programs, she has chosen to take on additional technical training alongside her regular studies, demonstrating a strong commitment to her education and future. Her days are filled with classes, homework, and personal responsibility, yet she approaches each challenge with determination and a clear sense of purpose.
Looking ahead to graduation, Marjorie is working toward earning both her high school diploma and a technical certification—an achievement that requires extra effort but will open new doors for her future. With the support of NPH, she has also developed valuable digital skills through computer training courses. Grateful for the opportunities she has received, Marjorie hopes to inspire other young people to take full advantage of the resources available to them and build brighter futures for themselves.
