Family and Community Strengthening

“You have given me a very big opportunity. Before, it was almost impossible to work and take care of my children. Thanks to you, I can give them food, safety, and things I couldn’t give them before. It has been something truly beautiful for us.”

– Luis, Honduras, Father of Beneficiaries

Our Family and Community Strengthening

At NPH, we believe that every child deserves to grow up in a safe family environment where their rights are respected, and their potential can flourish. Through our Family and Community Strengthening initiative, we work to ensure that vulnerable children, adolescents, and families across Latin America and the Caribbean have the tools, resources, and networks to overcome poverty and social exclusion.

Central to our approach is an individualised map of permanency: for every child who enters our residential care services, we design a pathway that restores their rights, ensuring they live in a safe, nurturing environment—whether reintegrated with their biological family, supported through community programs, or embraced within NPH.

Our Unique Approach

Residential Care Program

Offering emergency, transition, and long-term care for children and adolescents who have suffered violations of their rights. Our homes provide safety, stability, and loving care by trained professionals.

Family Reintegration Program

From the first day a child enters our care, we work toward reunifying them with their families whenever it is safe and possible.

Family Empowerment Program

Supporting families at risk of separation through education, psychosocial support, nutrition, and income-generating activities so that poverty never has to be a reason for family breakdown.

A Family Rebuilt Through Care and Community

After their mother disappeared, Luis struggled to keep his children safe and cared for, and NPH Honduras’ program gave the family stability, emotional support, and hope for the future.

A Father Holding His Family Together

In a small room in Tegucigalpa, Luis struggled to care for his young children, María and Mateo, after their mother disappeared due to addiction. With little income and no support, he did everything he could to keep them safe.

When Love Wasn't Enough

Luis had to work long hours to survive, often bringing Mateo to a dangerous workshop while María fell behind in school and struggled emotionally. The family desperately needed a safe place for the children while their father worked.

Stability Through Community Support

Through NPH Honduras' Pasos Pequeñitos program, María and Mateo found safety, care, and emotional healing while Luis regained stability and hope. What once felt impossible became a future filled with dignity, learning, and growth.
