Hello! I’m Elmer, and I want to share my experience at the NPH clinic.
I received my primary and basic education at the educational center of the Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos (NPH) Guatemala foundation. Then, I provided a year of service in the bakery area in gratitude to the foundation. After that, I began my diversified studies in the Bachelor of Science and Letters program through maturity in the capital city. This stage was very exhausting because I had to travel every day from 11:00 AM and returned home at 8:30 PM, but without a doubt, that effort has borne great fruits.
I completed my university studies at Rafael Landívar University, earning a degree as a University Technician in Nursing with a focus on primary care. Currently, I work as an administrative assistant at the clinic and monitor health and occupational safety.
At the clinic, I manage the medical appointments for the children, oversee the pharmacy, carry out fumigations, conduct inspections in various areas, control insect pests, and handle all administrative tasks for the clinic. I truly enjoy my work at the clinic, and although the workload is quite extensive, I find joy in it every day.
At the clinic, we all work as a team to achieve our goals, guided by the Annual Operational Plan and based on the areas requested by NPH International. A responsible person is always designated to meet all the goals and objectives set. We have monthly meetings with the work team to review the progress of programs such as deworming, supplementation, immunizations, weight and height monitoring, water testing at Casa San Andrés, and inspections in various areas.
Currently, we have a doctor who is the clinic coordinator and is responsible for caring for the children in the shelter and protection program. We also have three nursing assistants who work shifts to provide 24-hour care. They prepare each child’s treatment and respond to emergencies for both the children and staff. Additionally, we have a volunteer nurse who supports various functions in the clinic, such as providing training, preparing treatments for the children, and assisting with other community programs. We also have a young lady who is a direct beneficiary of NPH and helps in dentistry as an assistant and with various administrative tasks at the clinic.
All of this is possible thanks to the support of each donor. We are immensely grateful, as in the end, the beneficiaries are the children. It is very satisfying to know that we are contributing to the area of health.
I invite you to continue supporting this noble cause, as it is very rewarding to see the happiness of each child.
