Promoting mental health has become one of his main objectives. This commitment stems from his personal life and is now being realized through his profession. This is the story of a dedicated collaborator in the field of psychology.

My name is Gledin Omar Santos Valle, and I am 30 years old. I am originally from Talanga, a town located 30 minutes from NPH, specifically from Rancho Santa Fe. I grew up with an aunt and her husband, who practically adopted me as their own son, since my parents left me with them when I was 40 days old while they went to work to support the family.

I believe I had a very happy and beautiful childhood. I was always surrounded by people who showed their love for me. I had the opportunity to play with my neighbors and grow up in a safe environment.

Despite the love I received, my paternal family experienced significant disintegration, and I could see that they needed emotional support.

This ignited in me the desire to help families overcome these situations, and a teacher at school explained to me that this was closely related to psychology. My family situation led me to connect with this profession.

It was too late to help my own family, so this motivated me to think that I could help other families, and now I do that in my work.

I am about to complete six years as a psychologist with the NPH family. I started by supporting educators and later coordinated a program called “Family Services,” where NPH offers support for the comprehensive development of children. Currently, since the pandemic, I have taken on the challenge of coordinating the Psychology Department.

This is my first formal job; before this, I had the opportunity to participate in various spaces, particularly in topics related to prevention and protection of human rights. I also did volunteer work in vulnerable areas with children and youth.

I believe the main challenge in my work is to effectively address all the needs of the children, considering the multifaceted nature of our workday. In addition to coordinating the area and managing the related administrative tasks, I am also attending to a population of young children. Being with them and visiting them motivates me to continue doing what I love, and I am confident it has a positive impact on them.

The ultimate goal of my work is to provide support in their life processes and assist them emotionally so that they can reach out when they need it.

I believe that God always leads us to a place where He thinks we will give our best, and from that perspective, I feel that at NPH, I have grown not only professionally but personally as well. I have learned to value what I have much more and to understand the different realities of the children and young people around me.
