We are pleased to announce that Alba Tum has been appointed as the new National Director of NPH Guatemala, effective May 12, 2025.
With over 25 years of dedicated service to Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos, Alba brings a wealth of experience, passion, and institutional knowledge to her new role. She first joined NPH Guatemala during its founding years and had the privilege of meeting NPH’s founder, Father William Wasson. This experience marked the beginning of her lifelong commitment to serving vulnerable children and families in Guatemala.
A Life of Service and Dedication
Alba’s professional journey within NPH Guatemala includes key leadership roles such as Secretary, Social Work Manager, High School and University Programs Coordinator, Director of Casa San Andrés, and Head of the Hermanos Mayores program. Her steady presence, leadership, and compassion have been instrumental in shaping programs that support education, family integration, and youth development.
Her background in family counseling, conflict resolution, child protection, and leadership development, combined with participation in numerous trainings on child rights, social development, and fundraising, makes her exceptionally well-prepared to lead NPH Guatemala into its next chapter.
Vision for the Future
As National Director, Alba will oversee the strategic direction and execution of NPH Guatemala’s residential and community-based programs. Her primary focus will be to ensure the protection of children’s rights, the creation of safe and nurturing environments, and the empowerment of families. She will guide a multidisciplinary team, strengthen partnerships with local stakeholders, and represent NPH Guatemala to donors, institutions, and the broader community.
Alba affirms her deep belief in the NPH mission:
“I firmly believe in the principles and values that define the Foundation. As National Director, my commitment is to keep the mission and vision of NPH alive, ensure that the rights of children are respected, create safe environments, and support the families we serve. I am convinced that the best place for a child is their family environment.”
Looking Ahead
We are excited to see how Alba’s leadership will shape the future of NPH Guatemala. Her long-standing dedication and insight are a tremendous asset to our organization, and we are confident that she will continue to make a lasting impact on the lives of the children and families we serve.
Together, we look forward to a strong future for NPH Guatemala under her guidance.
