Our Story

The organization has also delivered approximately 6,000 medical services and more than 114,000 community-based services to strengthen families and promote community well-being. In 2025, NPH further strengthened its education, community development, and child protection programs, serving 166 students at Rancho Santa Fe Educational Center, providing temporary protection for 68 children at Casa Mi Esperanza, and conducting 101 psychosocial follow-ups with children and their families. Our Core Areas of Focus
Family and Community Strengthening
At Rancho Santa Fe, children and young people who are unable to live safely with their families are cared for in family-like living environments, with the stability, care, and everyday support they need to grow and thrive. Whenever possible, NPH Honduras works closely with children and their biological families towards safe reintegration, helping strengthen relationships and prepare families to live together again. NPH also works within communities to help prevent family separation. At the Family Center in Mata de Plátano, children and families receive support designed to strengthen family relationships, build caregivers’ capacities, and create safer, more stable homes where children can continue growing up with their families.
Education and Development
At the Rancho Santa Fe Educational Center, NPH Honduras provides education for children and young people living at the Ranch as well as students from surrounding communities. Montessori methods are used in early childhood education, encouraging independence, curiosity, and active learning. As students progress, they receive formal education, tutoring, and additional learning support. NPH also supports young people as they progress beyond school, providing scholarships and assistance to pursue technical and university education and prepare for independent adulthood.
Health and Well-being
At Rancho Santa Fe, NPH Honduras operates an on-site clinic providing primary healthcare, preventive care, regular health monitoring, and medical follow-up for children and young people. Nutrition and mental health services complement this care, supporting their overall physical and emotional well-being. Rancho Santa Fe is also home to the Holy Family Surgery Center, operated by NPH’s partner One World Surgery. The partnership expands access to surgical and specialist healthcare for NPH children and young people, as well as patients from communities across Honduras.
Disabilities and Inclusion
NPH Honduras provides specialized care and support for children, young people, and adults with a range of physical, neurological, and developmental disabilities who live at Rancho Santa Fe. In a safe and supportive living environment, dedicated caregivers and specialized facilities provide individualized daily care, rehabilitation, special education, and therapy, helping each person develop their abilities and receive the support they need in everyday life.
Youth and Economic Empowerment
At Rancho Santa Fe, NPH Honduras runs vocational workshops for children and young people living in NPH residential services as well as those from surrounding communities. Workshops in electronics, hairdressing, automotive mechanics, textiles, and woodworking give participants opportunities to develop practical skills and explore different career paths. Youth empowerment also extends beyond vocational training. Through groups such as Chicas Poderosas, young people have opportunities to build confidence, develop leadership and life skills, and discuss issues that affect their lives and futures. Together, these opportunities help young people develop the practical and personal skills they need to make decisions about their futures, pursue further education or employment, and prepare for independent adulthood.

The Difference You Make
Breaking Barriers Through Opportunity
Louise arrived at NPH Honduras at the age of eight after experiencing hardship, loss, and instability. Through the care, education, and encouragement she found at Rancho Santa Fe, she discovered a passion for welding—a field where few girls in Honduras choose to work. By embracing her interests and developing technical skills, Louise has gained the confidence to challenge stereotypes and pursue a future on her own terms.
Today, Louise continues to build her skills through NPH Honduras’ vocational training program while inspiring other girls to follow their ambitions without limits. She dreams of one day opening her own welding workshop, using the opportunities she has received to create a brighter future for herself and to show that talent and determination matter more than expectations.
