This month, the empowerment program at Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos Guatemala (NPH) has resumed, and it is an opportunity we do not want to miss. At NPH, we have a program dedicated to Empowerment and Gender Equity, designed to support the path toward an equal and just future for all.
Since 2021, we have been committed to this empowerment program, alongside the “Chicas Poderosas” (Powerful Girls) and “Hombres de Honor” (Men of Honor) programs. From classrooms to foster homes, NPH Guatemala’s empowerment and gender equity program has become a bastion of change and growth. Through dynamic and participatory workshops, we invite participants to explore their potential, discover their strengths, and embrace their inner power. In each session, we promote leadership, cultivate self-confidence, and strengthen self-esteem, providing each individual with the necessary tools to face life’s challenges with courage and determination.
At NPH Guatemala, we understand that empowerment begins with creating a safe and welcoming environment where everyone feels valued and respected. Therefore, one of the fundamental pillars of this program is promoting a judgment-free space where every voice is heard, and every experience is honored. We foster mutual respect, empathy, and understanding, thus creating an environment conducive to personal and collective growth.
Our program goes beyond practical training; it also seeks to promote a culture of gender equality and respect for diversity throughout the community. We challenge deeply rooted gender stereotypes in society, openly address gender inequalities, and promote more equitable and just relationships. Every person, regardless of gender or background, has the opportunity to fully develop and reach their maximum potential.
Through our empowerment and gender equity programs and workshops, we are creating a more inclusive and just future for all. Participants, inspired by their own capacity for change and growth, are beginning to transform their lives and the lives of those around them. Every step taken toward gender equality and respect for diversity is a step toward a better and more humane world. NPH Guatemala’s commitment to the integral development of the community and the promotion of gender equality is unwavering. Our Empowerment programs, Powerful Girls, and Men of Honor strengthen the social fabric and pave the way toward a future where all individuals can live with dignity, equality, and respect. We strive to teach children that everyone has the same rights and dignity regardless of their sex, skin color, height, etc. We attempt to teach students weekly that it is important to respect and accept themselves as they are. The children are excited about the classes because it is something completely new and different where they can openly discuss various topics—some of which are still taboo in Guatemalan culture. Here they can be themselves and also talk about their own problems or conflicts that are not addressed or clarified anywhere else.
