At the heart of every lasting impact is collaboration. Since 1985, NPH Honduras has served as a beacon of care and opportunity for children and families, growing from a single home into a nationwide force for good. Today, its reach extends far beyond the 266 children and youth in its residential program. Each year, thousands more benefit from its holistic programs in education, healthcare, and family strengthening. The secret behind this growth and resilience? Partnerships rooted in shared purpose, trust, and action.

From government agencies and United Nations bodies to grassroots organizations and global NGOs, NPH Honduras has cultivated powerful alliances that enable it to serve better, reach further, and drive systemic change for generations to come.

Strengthening the Social Fabric: Working with Government Institutions

NPH Honduras works in close partnership with the Ministry of Education and local departmental offices to align its education programs with national standards. This means access to teacher training, curriculum development, and classroom innovations. Children and youth benefit from inclusive education approaches, improved infrastructure, and opportunities to grow through civic, artistic, and sports programs.

Through its alliance with SENAF (Secretariat for Children, Adolescents and Families), NPH Honduras reinforces its child protection framework, ensuring that its residential and reintegration programs meet the highest standards of care. SENAF provides training and technical resources that help NPH nurture children in a safe, structured, and loving environment, while supporting long-term reintegration efforts.

Partnerships with local municipalities in Catacamas, Juticalpa, and Salamá allow NPH to engage in local planning efforts, sit at decision-making tables, and advocate for child-focused policies. These collaborations ensure that the voices of vulnerable families are heard at the community level, and that resources and services are deployed where they are needed most.

Facing the Risks: Preventing Exploitation and Human Trafficking

One of the most vital partnerships NPH Honduras maintains is with CICESCT (Interinstitutional Commission Against Commercial Sexual Exploitation and Human Trafficking). Together, they conduct workshops and training for staff and communities on human rights, victim identification, and protection strategies. By equipping people with knowledge and tools, this alliance helps create safer spaces for children and prevents exploitation before it happens.

Bringing the World to Honduras: Partnerships with UN Agencies

As a civil society organization aligned with the United Nations, NPH Honduras plays an important role in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This vision is brought to life through tangible partnerships.

With the International Organization for Migration (IOM), NPH youth participate in powerful arts-based programs. High school students create paintings and clay figures that reflect the emotional and social realities of irregular migration. These projects give young people a voice, helping them express their hopes, fears, and visions for a safer, more just world.

The collaboration with GIZ (German Development Cooperation) supports vocational training that equips youth with hands-on skills for employment, entrepreneurship, and economic independence. Courses in mechanics, carpentry, computing, and agriculture offer young people an alternative to poverty and migration.

Through training from the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), NPH staff gain specialized tools to support displaced and vulnerable populations. Topics like refugee rights, psychosocial support, and emergency response are critical in a region affected by violence, migration, and economic instability. This collaboration strengthens NPH’s capacity to provide compassionate care in crisis situations.

Transforming Lives from the Ground Up: Civil Society Collaborations

Change doesn’t happen in isolation. That’s why NPH Honduras is deeply embedded in national networks that advocate for children and support youth empowerment.

In partnership with FUNADEH (National Foundation for the Development of Honduras), NPH offers life-skills workshops and mentorship to adolescents at risk of violence and poverty. Young people learn to develop life plans, embrace leadership, and pursue entrepreneurship—replacing cycles of violence with ambition, confidence, and vision.

As a member of COIPRODEN, a child rights network, NPH contributes to national advocacy efforts and benefits from specialized training in legal frameworks, child protection strategies, and family strengthening. These tools empower staff to build safer, more nurturing environments for children.

The partnership with the International Rescue Committee (IRC) focuses on working with caregivers and educators. Through parenting schools and trauma-informed training, families learn to build stronger bonds, communicate effectively, and adopt positive discipline methods that uplift rather than punish.

And thanks to INFRACNOVI, NPH teams now receive training in inclusive education—especially for children with low vision or blindness. From assistive technologies to personalized support plans, this partnership ensures that every child, no matter their ability, has a chance to thrive.

A Living Network for Social Change

Every alliance NPH Honduras forges is a thread in a broader social fabric—one that binds communities together, protects the most vulnerable, and uplifts futures that once seemed out of reach.

“The goal is not just to care for children, but to build a society where children no longer need protection. That’s only possible when we all work together.” — Nelson Alvarez, NPH Honduras Project Monitor

As Honduras continues to confront social, economic, and environmental challenges, the NPH model of collaborative care and shared mission offers hope—not only for the families we serve, but for a better, more inclusive future.
