Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos International (NPHI) has officially released its 2024 Annual Report, a landmark publication that commemorates the organization’s 70th anniversary while highlighting its profound impact across nine countries in Latin America and the Caribbean.

A Legacy of Love and Transformation

Founded in 1954 by Father William B. Wasson, NPH has spent seven decades providing vulnerable children not only with shelter, but with love, dignity, and opportunity. The 2024 report underscores how this vision has grown into a movement that has touched the lives of more than 20,000 children directly, while offering assistance to thousands more every year through community programs.

This year is both a celebration and a call to action,” wrote Michelangelo Cambiaso Erizzo, President of NPHI International, in his message to readers. “Despite financial constraints and political challenges, we have provided hope, care, and opportunities to countless children and families. Our commitment to transformation is unwavering.”

Highlights of 2024

The report details an extraordinary year of achievements:

  • Educational Impact: Over 3,333 children attended NPH primary and secondary schools, while 207 students graduated from high school and 39 completed university.
  • Healthcare Reach: NPH delivered more than 2,240 healthcare treatments, including 1,157 vaccines and nearly 1,000 therapy sessions for children and youth.
  • Community Engagement: Residential programs became more specialized while family and community outreach expanded, emphasizing prevention, inclusion, and empowerment.
  • Volunteerism: The NPH Volunteer Program welcomed 18 new international volunteers and celebrated 10 completing their service year, reinforcing solidarity as a cornerstone of its mission.
  • 70th Anniversary Celebration: On August 2, 2024, Casa San Salvador in Mexico hosted a day of unity, remembrance, and joy, including a special Mass, soccer matches, and community festivities that brought together generations of the NPH family.

Responding to Challenges in Haiti

The report devotes special attention to Haiti, where NPH continues to operate under extremely difficult conditions. From St. Damien Pediatric Hospital’s 47,290 treatments to the resilience of children in the “Programme de Vie,” NPH Haiti’s efforts stand as a testament to courage and compassion amidst political instability and violence.

Financial Transparency and Global Support

The 2024 financial section highlights $37.6 million in total expenses, with nearly half dedicated to direct care services including education, medical care, and family wellbeing programs. Funding came primarily from Europe (39%) and the United States (31%), with a strong 29% contributed from across Latin America.

Looking Ahead

Chief Executive Officer Miguel Venegas emphasized the importance of adaptability in his message: “As we celebrate our past, we also evolve. Family support, reintegration, and education remain at the heart of our mission. With your support, we will continue to transform lives—one child, one family, one community at a time.
