VOCATION AND PATH IN EDUCATION
My name is Sandra Hernández. I am an early childhood education teacher. I came to NPH in June 2012, driven by my vocation for service and my desire to work with children, convinced of the importance of supporting them in their early stages of development and learning.
For me, being a professor means the opportunity to guide and instruct with love, patience, and dedication. It is a profession that allows me to contribute to their comprehensive development and leave a positive mark on each child.
Throughout my life, I have had many moments that have deeply touched my heart and confirmed my decision to pursue education, especially seeing how young children grow and develop with the right support. The daily contact with the children, their affection, their joy, their progress, their small achievements and gestures remind me daily that early childhood education is what I love and through which I can help those who need it most.
EDUCATING IN AN ENVIRONMENT THAT SHAPES PEOPLE
From my perspective, the atmosphere at NPH El Salvador’s school is very positive and welcoming. It is characterized by respect, solidarity, and teamwork, and prioritizes the well-being of children as well as instilling moral values in them. It is a space full of affection and opportunities, allowing students to develop their abilities, strengthen their self-esteem, and move toward a better future.
I believe the main difference between NPH and other educational contexts is the human-centered approach the institution offers, reinforcing the sense of family. This gives the teaching profession a deeper meaning, as it is based on service, love, respect, solidarity, and security.
And that is what I try hardest to reflect as an educator, as I always strive to be there with affection, provide emotional and academic support, and foster a harmonious environment where dignity and integrity are valued. At the same time, being with the children and young people of NPH has helped me see life with simplicity, become more understanding, and act from the heart.
A MISSION THAT TRANSFORMS LIVES
What has motivated me to remain faithful to this mission for so many years is my vocation and passion for education. Seeing children learn and progress fills me with joy and inspires me to continue giving my best. Working at NPH allows me to contribute to a greater purpose, providing support and opportunities to those who need it most, which motivates me to persevere every day.
If I had to summarize my experience at NPH in one word, it would be “service,” because all my work is geared toward supporting children with dedication and care. At NPH, I have seen firsthand that serving is a way to change lives and build a better future.
To others considering a career in education or other types of social work, I would say that it is a beautiful and transformative decision. It is not just about teaching; it is about supporting, listening, and building hope. It is a profession that demands patience, love, and perseverance, but it also brings profound satisfaction when you see children and young people achieve their dreams.
Finally, being part of the NPH family fills me with deep pride and a profound sense of commitment. I feel grateful to belong to a place where everyone’s well-being is valued. Being part of this community encourages me to keep going, responsibly, because I know my work contributes to improving society.
